The composition of the Board reflects L’Oréal’s shareholding structure, while guaranteeing the interests of all its shareholders. Extremely committed and vigilant, and convinced that stringent governance creates value for the company, the directors always keep the company’s long-term interests first in mind as they voice their opinions. The diversity and complementarity of the directors’ industrial, financial and entrepreneurial expertise mean they are equipped to quickly and thoroughly comprehend development challenges facing L’Oréal.

The Executive Committee, the group’s management body

The members of the Executive Committee are in charge of the Operational Divisions and Functional Departments, as well as the geographic Zones. They implement the strategic guidelines and direct the activities of L’Oréal all over the world. In 2015, Isabel Marey-Semper joined the Executive Committee as Executive Vice-President Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainable Development. She is also General Manager of the L’Oréal Corporate Foundation.

Acting ethically

Ethics is at the heart of L’Oréal’s commitments, whose ambition is to be an exemplary company worldwide on the basis of its four Ethical Principles – Integrity, Respect, Courage and Transparency – and its Code of Ethics. In 2015, L’Oréal was named for the sixth time as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” by the Ethisphere Institute.

  • Ethics Day

    Over the last seven years, Ethics Day has given all the group’s employees the opportunity to exchange on ethics directly with the Chairman and CEO, Jean-Paul Agon, and with their Country Managers. In 2015, more than 50% of employees took part, and over 4,100 questions were raised.
  • Ethics e-learning

    An ethics e-learning, mandatory for all employees, is a major component of the group’s policy. By December 31st, 2015, 75% of employees with access to the online module had completed the course.

  • Corporate Ethics Innovation Award

    Emmanuel Lulin, Senior Vice-President and Chief Ethics Officer, has received the Carol R. Marshall Award for Innovation in Corporate Ethics. Created in 2010, this recognition is awarded by the Ethics and Compliance Initiative (ECI).

Sustained commitment to the United Nations Global Compact

As a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact since 2003, the group renews every year its commitment to Human Rights, labour standards, environmental stewardship and the fight against corruption.

    As part of this anniversary celebration on June 24th, 2015, Jean-Paul Agon, Chairman and CEO of L’Oréal, was chosen to represent the business community. He delivered an inspiring speech, in the presence of many guests including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon.
  • A recognized commitment

    L’Oréal has been included in the UN Global Compact stock index, which lists companies that have exceeded the performance of financial markets with a return of more than 25%, since its creation in 2013. In 2015, L’Oréal joined the UN Global Compact LEAD group, reserved for the most advanced companies in terms of responsible business practices.
  • Women’s Empowerment Principles

    Since 2014, L’Oréal has been a signatory of Women’s Empowerment Principles. The initiative, led by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community.
