L’Oréal showcases its perfume ingredients

Dive into the exciting world of fragrance creation. L’Oréal continues to strengthen its commitment to transparency—and make it easier for consumers to access detailed information about the composition of beauty products—with the launch of a new digital platform open to all, providing a breakdown of the aromatic ingredients in its fragrances. Interview with Patricia Soyer, Fragrance Director, L’Oréal Research & Innovation.

For several years now, L'Oréal has been committed to transparency regarding ingredients and to clarity about the social and environmental impact of its products.

We wanted to include fragrance ingredients in this process, which until now, have been kept secret.

What is new in transparency for fragrance?

Our approach consists of breaking the fragrance down into its main ingredients while preserving the know-how of the master perfumer. It discloses more than 95% by weight of the fragrance composition.

This approach is new because, for the first time, it concerns all categories of beauty products including fine fragrance, eau de toilette and eau de parfum.

How can consumers access the list of ingredients?

The list of fragrance ingredients used will be available on all the brand's sites for each product.

This approach makes it possible to combine creativity with science. It will be a great achievement if this model can be adopted by all players in the cosmetics and fragrance industry.
