The Lassigny plant combines expertise and innovation

The Lassigny plant, located in northern France, specialises in manufacturing makeup (powder, lipstick and gloss) for the L’Oréal Luxe Division. Plant Director, Olivier Boudinot, tells us more about the specific features of the line that produces Rouge Pur Couture The Slim lipstick by Yves Saint Laurent, and how it combines expertise and innovation to manufacture the highest quality products.

Travelling the New Eurasian Land Bridge

Eager to find more environmentally friendly transport solutions, L’Oréal is currently developing multimodal options. The Group is ramping up its use of existing freight rail lines, such as the New Eurasian Land Bridge, which enables L’Oréal to move products from Europe to China. It is a sustainable and competitive alternative to air freight and generates 10 times less CO₂ per tonne of merchandise transported .

L’Oréal: a role model in operational excellence

The Group complies with the strictest production standards in the areas of safety, quality, hygiene and product traceability. 95% of L’Oréal’s plants are ISO 9001 certified (quality management) and 100% are ISO 22716 certified (good manufacturing practices for cosmetics). In terms of quality, over the course of the production cycle, a single product undergoes about 100 compliance inspections. L’Oréal is also adamant about employee safety. The British Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recognised the Group’s health and safety initiatives with six awards.
